I still have to apply the remaining finish and polish them. I only have the base coat on. I made 9 of them yesterday. They were fun. I learned a lot. I used a 1-1/4 inch forestner bit for all of the holes. Thickness of the material matters. I wanted them all to hold the bottle like in picture #2, but the other material was too thick and I didn’t want a bigger hole. I will get it figured out. Some pointers are always welcome.

I really like the one in the first picture. if you don’t mind me asking me what angle did you use for the bottom and the whole.

Nice trio. I too like the first one, di you cut it out after you got it to balance?

I cut the bottom at a 45 degree angle. The hole is 1-1/4 inches. I narrowed the contact surface of the hole a bit using a 45 degree router bit with a bearing.

I cut everything except the base first and cut the angle a little at a time until it balanced the bottle. I had a general idea of the length I needed because of the trial run I did earlier in the morning. Once you get it all figured out, you can crank out a bunch fairly easily.

Nice choice on the wine – one of our summer time favorites.
