I’ve always liked the minimal designs, be it painting or woodworking or sculpture or whatever. I also think the design itself should be used as supports. The shelf on the bottom is useful to put stuff on, but it’s really there to hold the legs in place. It’s made of Cherry and Walnut.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a simple design. It’s not uncommon that we work very hard to make it look simple.

beautiful but I don’t think ‘simple’ is the right word, I see several procedures that are anything but simple. Also, what kind of wood is the top ?
very nice work and welcome th LJ’s

Very nice coffee table and I agree with recycle1943, there are parts of that build that are not simple and beautiful wood.
Thanks for sharing.

I agree that “simplistic” may not have been a very good choice in words :) Clean design may have been a better description. I recognize the difficulty in the construction and really liked the overall design and choice in materials.

I like it. Is the bottom shelf in the way, as in, I’m gonna kill my shin or ankle on the corner if I’m not careful?

I’ve been using this table for about 5 years now and I don’t think I’ve ever hit the bottom shelf. It’s a couple of inches smaller than the top which helps. I rest my feet on it a lot actually. It’s a pretty solid design overall, if you are thinking of re-creating it be sure to send me pictures. :)
