This was my final project for the Cabinetry and Woodworking Diploma program at Red River College.

I built the box with birch veneer particle core and dowel construction.

The butcher block is made from, maple, cherry, white oak and ash. I put 5 coats of tung oil on it. The hole is to put scraps into the compost/ garbage bin underneath. The butcher block comes out so it can be washed.

The handles were bent using bent lamination. I tried to steam bend but it didn’t work out.

The countertop is Formica Giallo Granite Plastic Laminate with an etchings finish. Everything else is maple.

There is a “secret” door on the back to easily grab the garbage and compost bin.
