Thanks for all the welcoming comments, everyone seems quite nice. I am an MD-PhD student who links to tinker and make my own stuff. I've had too many particle board pieces of furniture fail! Don't have access to many tools which is limiting but I hope to learn from everybody and hopefully contribute what I can.
