Hello all, I was wondering if anyone out there might have a good fire wood storage rack idea they want to share. I have a small firepit in my back yard and would like to have something maybe 6 feet long at the most just to store wood. I was also thinking if I come up with a neat project I might make a few for my neighbors too. Thanks in advance for your help and support.

When I made mine I used pressure treated 2×4’s a treated lattice for the back and sides. I doubled the use of my wood rack to also serve as my canoe holder and the canoe acts as the top and shield the firewood within.

Hey Brian, Would you happen to have a picture of that wood rack?

Firewood rack? Canoe holder? I dare anyone to say that Lumberjocks aren’t clever!

I built three racks this summer. Two of them are 8’ long, and the third is 6’ long. Between all three, I’m storing almost a full face cord. I used Simpson StrongTies and 2×4s based on their plan: http://strongtie.com/ftp/fliers/DIY-PROJECT08.pdf. I made the legs 48” tall instead of 30” and it’s supporting the firewood just fine.

I live in a subdivision and I have a fire pit in the back yard so I need something that looks a little more fancy than your average log rack. We don’t have fences so all the neighbors can see it. Thanks in advance for all your comments
