Received this Sander 10/29/2013 which was purchased from Amazon. It came very quickly as usual. Delivery was within 10 minutes of time they said. WOW!! Delivery guy helped set the heavier of the 2 perfect looking packages on my rolling table so that I could slide it off onto the base cabinet after unpacking. While unpacking found disc cover had taken a very bad hit (must have been before packing as the box showed no damage). As this was not Amazons or the trucking company fault I emailed Woodstock International Support with my story and asked for a new cover. They emailed right back to say they would send out another. It arrived 2 days later. You can’t beat that service. I felt modifications needed to be done to make the Sander more user friendly. Moved the on/off switch from the back to the front of the cabinet.

Drilled a 3/8” hole in the disc housing (can be seen in pic just above the tilt scale, has a small circle drawn around it) this allows the disc to be removed by tapping it off with a wooden dowel.

Used the lower front sleeve guard and a piece of aluminum to form a end cap with a 4” hole for the back of the belt.

Attached a 4” elbow using the holes already drilled in the disc housing door. With the last 2 connections, can collect 99% of dust produced.

PM if you have questions. Will review after some use.

That looks like a handy machine. I wish I had one. I fully agree with your modifications. I love to do that too to make a tool more user friendly. we have and old jointer in the park in AZ and I relocated the switch to above the machine for easy access without bending.
That switch on your sander needs to be up high for easy reach when using either sander

Very nice sander. I’m sure that dust collection works fantastic! Gr8 solution
