An Excellent Small Shop Unit

An Excellent Small Shop Unit

This is a non product spec hands on review. In a few words, dump your harbor freight 2up unit and get this unit. Here’s why: IT WORKS. Bether than I expected it to. I needed a portable DC. I have a stationary 2hp unit and it works great. What I don’t like is the continual failure of the dust collection bin level alarm and it’s real tall, so making it portable may prove difficult. I tried to make my old hf 2hp unit with a super dust deputy portable, but again, not...

Home made Dust Collector

While trying to figure out how to afford a new cyclone dust collector, I started looking at what was available as single components. The Oneida Super Dust Deputy came up and that`s all I needed to get the project motor started. Since I re-kindled my love of woodworking, I have been using a Fein vac and a Dust Deputy kit for all my dust collections needs. Acrylic Finish

Acrylic Finish

Just my quick 2-cents on this Dr. Kirks Micro Magic 3-pack of wax finish. Very simple, very affordable. I do want to thank a fellow LJ, James, http://lumberjocks.com/Thewoodman2000 for recommending th...

Hi, First time posting,Long time reader I just finished my HF DC mod. When I first added a seperator with Theinbaffle I noticed a big drop in suction. Once I eliminated all bends and flex hosethe collector seem like I gained all suction back. (Plus saved a lot of room) CollectorIs hung off shelf and only thing touching the floor is seperator can. Seems Awesome. I would like to add a wynn filter at somepoint when I have $$$$. (I can’t see how any more air could flow through t...

Rudd Lacquer Sprays Well, Nice Satin Finish

Rudd Lacquer Sprays Well, Nice Satin Finish

My local paint store quit carrying Valspar Pre-cat lacquer. Their replacement product is Rudd Duracat-V 550 voc pre-cat lacquer. It is billed as a vinyl, non-yellowing lacquer. I had the chance to use it on a recent project, and it compares favorably with Valspar, Sherwin Williams, and Magnalac. This lacquer is milky white in the can, compared to the yellow color of lacquers I have used in the past. I used the satin sheen, which looked like a hand rubbed finish after one coat. I sanded ...
