Thought it was about time I got my Blog going (Martin has been nagging me for long enough). A little background info….
My name is Phil, I’m 36 and live in Poole, Dorset in the UK. I’ve been woodworking as a hobby for about 6 years and love it! I married to my long sufferering “Wood-Widow” Fiona and have a lovely daughter Sophie, aged 6.
Since getting interested in woodwork after watching the great Norm Abram I’ve been buying tools and making sawdust and have finally reached the stage where I have run out of excuses. I just need to make stuff!
We moved house in the summer of last year and I have just about got my new workshop set up and finely tuned. My workshop is a two car garage (not that you could fit a car in there now!!) and I have insulated the walls, fitted new electrics and painted all surfaces to give a clean and warm(ish) place to work.
My passion are hand tools, planes in particular. I am mesmerized by fine shavings flying across the bench. Although I couldn’t do without my powered buddies, the tablesaw and thicknesser. And maybe a router or two…...;)
I’ve been fortunate to have had some of my projects published in the UK woodwork magazines and currently write the odd article for “The Woodworker” magazine. And any spare time is spent working on my website or rocking with my band, “The Racket”.
