I'm a professional wooden plane maker in England. I'm married and have a wonderful wife and daughter, and love to play guitar when I get a spare moment.

Phil, I just spent an hour browsing your web page. You are a terrific woodworker. Thanks for sharing those great projects with us, particularly the step-by-step photographs.

I’m curious about the Krenov Inspired Cabinet, to my eye it looks top heavy. Is this a concern, or just an illusion?

Also note that you frequently use mock-ups before proceeding to the actual project. What timber do you use for mock-ups, and is the joinery you use to make these identical to what the project will involve?

HI Don
Thanks for the kind words!
The Krenov cabinet-in the flesh it is surprisingly tall. I agonised over the proportions (making mock-ups, as you noticed) I just used off-cuts of pine and ply and tacked them together with the nail-gun. It is surprising how different projects look in 3-D compared to a sketch or plan.
I don’t know about you but I find i’m never satisfied with my projects (regardless of how well they come out) So another Krenov style cabinet is on the drawing board for the coming year.
Best regards
Phil

I like your planes. Have a small collection of wooden planes. I would like to restor them and display on LJ.
