Location: Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany

I grew up doing finish carpentry with my father and brothers in Utah, every thing from a standard shim & trim one day and you're done, to custom built, one of a kind trimwork in multi-million dollar homes. Later I built a pretty successful deck company, specializing in high-end decks, balconies, and pergolas.

The twists and turns of life took me to Costa Rica in 2009, where I spent a year living with and learning from the locals, particularly my neighbor who built furniture in his shack next door. I discovered a passion for a whole new vein of woodworking that I hadn't really ever explored before, and now today I find myself amidst the birthing pains of starting my business again in Germany (homeland of my wife, in case you are wondering wtf. Like I still am.)

Despite a lifetime of experience as a carpenter in the construction industry, I am discovering I have an incredible amount yet to learn when it comes to my newly rediscovered passion, and I am learning it with a great deal of enthusiasm (and occasional chagrin!) I am seeking to develop a unique brand here which fuses art and functionality, nature and design, ecology and upcycling all together into one.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!!!

Wow, what an awesome welcome! I really hadn’t expected such an active welcome effort considering that I have yet to round out my profile and share my projects! Thanks gang! Max “Desperado” I am a Salt Lake City native myself! Although these days I am living and make a go of things in Germany. I am in the birthing stages of my own business which will be a blending of furniture and art, upcycling and natural materials. I am already greatly inspired by some of the things I have discovered here on LumberJocks and I am excited to become a part of this community!
