I live in the Pacific Northwest. I'm a hard working proud father of three kiddos. My story has changed since I first joined up here. I have been fying for the US Forest Service during the fire season and working as a carpenter in the off season. I'm now focusing more on my carpentry business.
I own a small shop and perform remodels out of my box van. I also own and operate a small horizontal band sawmill, which I really enjoy using. I haven't gotten enough milling in yet, I have a long wishlist of lumber I want to cut. Being in building, I get the opportunity to log a property now and then which supplies me with logs, If I only had more time to mill. I have a bench set aside in my shop that is my hand tools only bench. I am steadily adding to my restored and new hand tools. I also get great satisfaction out of working with hand tools, although I have to admit I don't have time to plane boards square and flat, kiddos remember, so I mill my parts with machines then perform the joinery with the hand tools.
I also like to fish, hunt birds, ride horses, and archery. I am aspiring to get into blacksmithing hopefully soon.

Feel free to drop me a message anytime.

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself a little over a year ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…

Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…

Wisty

Some of my wood stash. I need to get some projects going, so I can make room for more wood.

I have a part time shop in the hayloft of a barn. In recent years I have been using the shop for cabinet and built-in projects for various remodels. I have finished a handful of furniture projects for my wife, family and friends. I am realizing that what I have been looking for in my personal woodworking is hand-builds or whatever you call it, building using only or mostly hand tools. Building up shavings at my feet and the smell of the wood without the screaming machines and perhaps making a fine piece in the process :) I own a small sawmill and do some part-time logging now and then. Over the years I have acquired an impressive collection of lumber, slabs, figured woods etc. I’m pretty sure it’s a sickness. Now I need some project direction. Any ideas?
