My name is Paul. I am a computer programmer, administrator, network administrator, etc., with a small business of my own. After so many years working in cyberspace, I have found woodworking a real joy. The wood projects have been great learning experiences, and the results are real world, not space.

I have been woodworking since 2011, with little guidance other than books, PBS videos, and now LJ comments. I have learned to be patient, and to accept little errors. I always hope that I can make fewer mistakes as I go along.

I did some Nantucket benches the first year. I decided to make 3 benches, so that I could maybe get the job done right on the 3rd try. Certainly the last one was the best one, but I had mistakes on the final version that I luckily did not make on the first. No problem, I still like all three. That was the first project where I did a panel glueup. I am getting better at getting the panels flat and square. I now use a belt sander to fix the panels. Works great.

Welcome to LJ. Nice bench, I really like the way AK yellow cedar smells.
