patron's Workshop

I can really only speak for myself but I’m sure there are more of us than not that need to clean up our shop!
As soon as that comes to the top of the list I will take care of it! LOL

When I do clean my shop it sure doesn’t last long! 15 minutes after I start a new project you can’t tell I cleaned it! Nature of the beast!

the problems with cleaning shops ,
is that you just move everything to some new place in shop !
and then spend more time looking for things you have moved .the only way to do it right ,
is to have storage somewhere else ,
or take it to the dump !

Looks good and nice looking power tools. The biggest problem with my shop is also keeping it clean enough to not get buried! I use my overhead for storing boards and it looks like you have a lot of ceiling area for storing wood from hangers. Are the trusses strong enough for that? If you can get in the attic, adding some stringers would boost the strength. Just an idea… ;o)

Looks like a well equipped shop to me. Lot’s of good equipment and I really liked those two storage units with drawers and work tops.

My shop looks orderly only right after it’s been cleaned. I have everything except my bandsaw, lathe, workbench and miter station on wheels just so I can sweep the floor and rearrange when needed.

some ultra clean and neat shops do exist, and I admire anyone who can keep things that way and still be productive, but I think those kind of shops are the exception rather than the rule. Your shop looks well organized and it looks like you have used the space to the best advantage.

and here i thought that i was going to hear critisizm .
the first 2 pics on the ceiling show top plates for future bedroom walls and closets and hallway .
i have started a new shop ( 30’ x 40’ ) on side of house , but it is just posts level right now ,
so when that happens , i can finish the bedrooms and hallway .

i am hoping that all this happens in my life time !

Hello Bro, nice to see the shop. I too have been busy again,, cleaning shop,,got some new racking so all the junk is now off the floor and off most of the benches so I can now see where I work,
It looks like nearly all your machinery is color matched.

thanks for the storage idea , jack .
i do have a ” basement ” under my 20’ x 50’ deck ,
where i store longer boards and ply .
it helps , but needs work too .
i am glad to see that not everybody has an “operating room ” shop !

Nice looking shop!! Pretty roomy compared to mine. Clean is such a relative term, as long as you can find what you need all is good.

last week I cleaned my shop, I could even see the tops of my benches, so I thought that I would take a picture while it is still clean, oh no, the wife went to spend the week with her sister and took the camera with her, now no one will ever believe my shop was once clean, and I started a new project, so, now I can’t see the tops of my benches again, ahh, it feels more like home now.

LOL / I admit while I’m working on a project the tools get spread around some, but the job I work to support my hobby is in an operating room, :) and that is one place you cannot be unorganized, after 10 year of having this ingrained into my psyche I cannot abide a shop where I cannot find what I’m looking for, Institutional OCD I guess, I tend to break my projects up into stages, and most of the time I end up cleaning up between the stages. I don’t sweep up all the saw dust, but tools that I’m done with for a while get put away, and when I am done with a project I do tend to clean up everything

I guess you cannot help who you are sometimes :)

I do like the shop. and I am envious of all the nice tools. Lots of room to boot.
