while in the turmoil of some grinching
after a hard time from this last years trials

just when i felt at my lowest
and was shutting down here
to keep from smearing it around

i went to town today
to get some needed supplies for the arched doors install
when i stopped at the PO to check my mail
expecting a late care package from my brother

i was surprised to find a box from LJ joein10asee

we weren’t even buddies
so i can only say i was totally mystified

upon opening the box
here is what i found inside

a hand made awl from forged steel
with a brass ferrule and chrome top !

in it was a letter from joe
about his work with a group of friends
that help others by ‘paying it forward’
and sharing life’s blessings thru anonymous gifting
(i did ask joe if it would be alright to post this
as LJ’s is kind of public)

he had written
‘I’m sure that you don’t NEED the scribe, but I hope you may be able to use it.’

well joe
don’t you know all i have for scribing is this plastic handled one
(and an old screwdriver i sharpened for my on site toolbox)

i feel like i have some fine china to eat off of now
after paper plates all this time

and yes
in the spirit of this kind gift
and prayer
i too do what i can to

PAY IT FORWARD

thank you so much
and bless you and those you ride with !

Funny how the little things can mean the most…a simple gift, a kind word or even just a smile. Ole Joe seems like a pretty good egg..even if he works at the the big orange home improvement store…lol You strike me as a good one as well Patron and I am glad I have met ya.

Wonderful gift at an especially crucial time.

So it may be true that what goes around comes around if you (what was that catchphrase again? Oh yeah) Pay it Forward.

That sure is a fancy awl !

David, thanks for the open door invitation,
if you see me coming up your front walk,
better hide the awl….

Very good David!

Thank you ALL for helping!

That beautiful new awl sure beats a pointed screw driver!

... and I thought my shop was a mess…

How is the floor of your new shop being protected from the elements?
... it looks great! Looking forward to seeing it proceed to the next steps…

Thanks for sharing your nice gift, etc.

Happy New Year!

The unexpected is always a surprise
but selecting a person who will be surprised
is so easy if the person is you David.
You deserve it, afterall, a lot of surprises are always coming from you.

For Joe, I appreciate much what you’ve done.
For David, you deserved it.

Keep it going.
Enjoy the day.

you too joe
HNY !

the floor has two coats of vinyl paint on it
like a rubber sheet

right now it has about 4” of snow on it
when i actualy get it covered (walls and roof)
i plan on adding another layer of sheeting to it
something to make it stronger
and easier to clean
