sources and types of wood for turning

1957 days ago by papabear | 2 comments »

I have been experimenting some more with the scraps I have around the house but they all turn out rough in comparison to the once piece of hard wood (no clue what it is) I first used. Any one have any recomendations on wood types for turning and where they may be found at economical prices? (in the Metro Vancouver area). Another thought, one of my neighbours has a cherry tree they trimmed last year. They have some of the thicker branches left. Is it a good idea to grab a couple of them and let them dry for a year to work with? Thanks for your recomendations!
