Father's Day Gift

With Father’s Day quickly approaching I thought that I would get the jump on the rest of my woodworkers and requested another tool for my woodworking shop. Surprised? This is what I decided on:

As I opened the box my excitement grew! Hitachi did an excellent job of packaging this tool.

My son helped me get in on the workbench. It weighs 45 lbs. He had the idea that I could put it on the backside of my bench, which seemed like a great idea. I had already begun thinking of how I could add rollers on each end to support the wood that I would be cutting with it.

But, once we got it on the bench it was obvious that it wouldn’t work. The rear of the bench isn’t deep enough and to put it further up would consume my workbench. :^(

This picture shows the neat fence, to the left of the saw, that can be positioned up or to the left for added support.

So, as expected, I will have to build a miter saw work station for my shop.

Here’s one last picture of the happy Dad and his new addition to the shop.

I had to work, tonight, so I didn’t have time to check alingment and such or to make any saw dust, but I will post more information on this tool on a future posting. And if anyone is looking to buy one…I got the best deal at Lowes…just @ $249.00 plus tax.

That looks like Dad’s. Very easy to adjust the fence and the laser. (which is good, because it goes everywhere in the back of his pickup.

Thanks everyone! Yes, the smile goes from ear to ear and then some, David. ;^) I hope everyone has the same smile when Father’s Day is gone.

You ”have to build a miter saw station?” rats – I hate making stuff in my shop for my shop. :-)

Have fun!

Very nice! It’s not well known, but I have a soft spot in my heart for new tools. Thanks for showing it off!

Congratulations to a happy Dad.
I bet it was tough having to go to work that night.
