Hi! I'm a retired shopkeeper, my wife and I ran a DIY shop for the last 10 years prior to my retirement, in Dalton in Furness, Cumbria, England.
I've always enjoyed woodwork but it has mainly been stuff around the house, skirtings, dado's, hanging doors etc. But recently I've been quite ill and eventually had a salivary gland removed from my neck and it must have been making me a lot worse that I realised as since having it removed I've had this sudden burst of energy which is very welcome at 75 years of age lol.
Anyway I decided to take up woodworking as a hobby, but making practical things and started after watching many of the youtube videos on woodworking by making a garden bench. I really enjoyed doing it and have since been making lots of jigs to help with projects in the future, I decided I would like to have a go at making a clock and saw one on the net that led me to 'Lumberjocks' and when I've posted the obligatory 5 posts I'm going to ask if I could have the sketch up plans to get me started.
I work from a small garage and it's usually a complete shambles but I'm trying to get a bit more organised.
It's a bit scary looking at the skill of the woodworkers projects I've seen so far but it's also very inspiring and and has given me a lot of enthusiasm, I just can't wait to get started.
Oldstarter or Dave if you like.
P.S. I haven't written all about me 75 years is a long time lol.

Hi Jim, Thanks for the welcome and all the information.
I’m off to my workshop in a moment, trying to see if I can work out the measurements of a Mission Clock posted by Dakotawood (Travis) I know it’s 18” high but that’s all I’ve got to go on at the moment, apparently he has sketch up plans that he will email, but as you will know I’ve got to make 5 posts first. Shall have to try and be patient, not my strongest point, I can’t wait to get on with it.
Thanks again, Dave.

The photos don’t appear to be showing perhaps they will when you click on them.
The bench was from something I saw on the net and adapted it for my needs and then made a set of coasters from the scrap, there not quite finished yet, letting them harden and then I’ll sand them back.

Oh they have appeared,

I’ll put another on of the garden bench from when I’d just finished it in the workshop. Please don’t look at my workshop lol.
