I am 52 and have been wood working for over 30 years (part time). I am now retired due to some health problems. My goal is to become a better wood worker, I like making almost anything out of wood, but lately rocking chairs have become an obsession,Getting older I guess, Never was able to make much money at wood working as i have a large family with sticky fingers, but some times there smiles are enough.
If I can ever help anyone don't hesitate to ask, I will be asking all of you alot i am sure.

thanks , I found this site while looking for info on building a maloof style rocker. i have made several rockers but really like the maloof type joints. Only they turned out to be harder to figure out than i thought. the pictures of the hal taylor build along done by nyrockers was really helpful. Also Laron Algren of ohio who builds rockers to sell has been helping me. I think i have them cornered now, a little more practice and i will try a chair .

Thanks for the kind words! I went old school with the stretcher on my coffee table- gouges and chisels.
Your rockers are marvelous! I hope to have my chair-making to that level one day!
