About to take down two huge pin oak trees over 80 ft tall. They tell me the wood is no good for anything but fireplace, railroad ties or pallets. Can anyone tell me why this is?

Need some advice on peel and stick veneer guys - 2 replies
I really do not want to tear down my 1959 kitchen cabinets just because they look a little bad to the wife. Some of the cabinets are right up against the window frames so I can’t use anything thick. Probably would go with white birch or maple but where to buy for the best price I have no idea. I think one or two 2’x8’ would...

Has anyone built a base for this? - 6 replies
If you have built a base for the Jet JWBS-14CS Bandsaw (or know of a post of someone who has) I sure would like to see it. I have to build one to hold the saw and the motor. Hope to put it on a rolling base but any build ideas will help. larry

JET JWBS-14CS band saw question - 4 replies
I just got a JET Model JWBS-14CS Band Saw that came without a motor. I want to put a different motor on it. I have a 5 hp to put on my Delta 10” table saw and plan on putting the 1 ½ hp, 3450 rpm motor off of it on the Jet. Here is my problem. I don’t know what pulley to put on the motor to make the saw run correctly. Can someone tell me ...

What is going on with my table saw guys? - 12 replies
When I run a gauge between the miter slot and my blade I’m off by 12 º from the front to the back of the blade, the front of the blade being the furtherest from the slot and the back of the blade being closer by the 12º. The blade is not a cheap one it cost me $50 at a wood workers show 10 years ago. I also picked up a $100 blade at the time. ...

Opinions of orbital sanders 5 hole- UPDATE - 13 replies
I need a decent to good orbital sander and I have a lot of 5 hole round paper packs with the velcro type felt on them but I don’t know anything about them (got these at an auction) and how well they actually collect dust. It would be nice for a regular vacuum hose to fit up on it. Any suggestions? larry

Since there is so much interest in service... - 9 replies
First, I am NOT a shill and don’t like them, but when I find a company that treats even the small guy with a little order with due care I like to pass it on in case someone else might like to use them. I asked them to change the way they shipped some items (small order) for a lesser cost of shipping and even though their standard was not ...

My Big Sled pics for cutting cabinet panels - 0 replies
I get my 4×8 sheets of birch plywood at HD and have them cut it in half lengthwise so it is easier for me to handle it. I wanted a sled to cut the sides of my cabinets exactly the same height and be able to do them all at once. I know this is not for everyone but it really helps me because I work alone and I don’t have the gumption to s...

I can’t believe what has happened to our Country, have all of our so called leader lost their minds??? Pros and Cons of this planer please - 5 replies
I just happened accros this while checking out CL and wondered if these things are any good. Do they have a locking head or would a person be buying a headache?
