Over 35 years spent in the lumber industry building, maintaining and managing sawmills, hardwoods for the most part. Played a key role in the growth and expansion of the largest mill in the East, now producing over 20.000’/hour of oak, poplar etc. Traveled extensively as engineer, trouble shooter and as a ‘hired gun’ (New sheriff in town kinda thing) Spent a considerable amount of time (Stared in ‘78) inspecting lumber (Don’t call us “Graders” unless you aim to piss us off!)
Started working wood since I can recall, first with nothing more than a Montgomery Ward’s table saw. When I finally got a router I thought I was really doing something. In time I bought the first (and last) radial arm saw from Sears because they were said to do it all. Over the years I found that machines that can do everything can’t do anything very well.
And so on and so forth.
So if you need to know anything about wood and/or the lumber process I’m your guy.
