Buenos Dias everyone!!!........It’s been a while since my last blog and for that matter….since I’ve done anything significant in my shop…....however there is an on going project at hand.

A couple weeks ago the LOML decided that she wanted carpeting and a garden tub removed from the master bath….....
do a paint job and lay some linoleum….......all well and good…........since I tend to procrastinate a bit…...she enlisted the aid of my good friend Patron to sort of prod me along…...........this is the result of his aid(?).......

my new outdoor bathroom!!!

how could this happen???.....when all the LOML wanted was this removed:

a quick view of the rest of the room before…........

and this…........

OH well!!!!.........walls were lightly sanded…...carpet removed…......tub removed….....shower stall removed…...sinks and vanities removed….......what’s left?.......a 12×13 empty room!!!!

but…..progress is being made…......

new shower and storage area:

new reading facility…....

and space for new sink and vanity…...

A complete new bathroom is on the way….......a far cry from remove the tub…..paint and put down linoleum!!!.....
all with Patrons’ help and guidance!!

Throughout this project, ..................I have learned how to frame, install sheetrock, repair floors, and install tile (for the new shower)............and the learning experience is not over. Quite an accomplishment for an old guy!!!!

I am grateful for Patrons’ help, patience, and on the job learnin’ experience. The LOM is thankful she will soon have a new powder room….....and I am thankful that she’s happy and my ‘do’ list is one item less!!!!.....(kitchen overhaul is next).

Pix of completed project to follow!

Note: as always…......Twinkies are an on going part of this project!!!!

Now that all are bored to tears…......it’s Adios til the next time!!!

Bribing him with Energy Bars huh?

Yikes, don’t show my wife. I’m too old for that stuff.

It’s looking really good.

Good Progress Doug
It’s great to have a pro like David all you have to do is follow instructions and it’s done. Unlike lots of folks who have never done that kind of work an try engineering something that doesn’t work and you have to tear it out and start over. I charge like the sign in the mechanics shop $45 an hour $65 an hour if you watch and $100 hr if you help.

I heard something about this and was wondering when (or if) we’d see pix of the over-haul… Lookin’ Good, Doug!!
Can’t hardly wait ‘til we see the “After” pictures…
Just a warning, Man doesn’t live on Twinkies alone!! In order to cover the basic Food Groups (Vanilla and Chocolate) you have to mix in some Swiss Rolls, RingDings, and suchlike…:)

hey doug ,
what happened to the first pictures ?
this has been a full experience ,
helping set up dougs tools ,
gutting out the old room ,
repairing the wet and wobbly particle board floor ,
new electrics ,
new plumbing ,
figuring a way to attach new stud/rock walls ,
( the original wallboard is 3/8” thick ).
and teaching doug how to do the work .

so if you wonder where i have been ,
and why i am not on LJ’s as much ,
this is the answer .

back to work tomorrow !

Hey Doug, Is David gonna teach you how to inlay the toilet seat? lol I’m so jealous not living closer to The Maestro. lol
Seriously, though, it’s going to make Momma very happy. Congrats on scoring the professional assistance and training.
David just gets nicer all the time. Wow….Watch out that he doesn’t adopt A1Jim’s billing rates. Rand

What started out as a weekend (or two) ‘Honey do”......has become a major project…....the further we got….....the problems kept raising their ugly heads!!
best fix…..rip it all out and start from scratch…...and even scratch has its problems….as Patron pointed out…....many things to resolve.
As economical (or cheap as some may say) as I am…....David has lead me down the path of the ‘empty wallet syndrome’
but…...he’s correct!!!!........spend the money so next year it doesn’t have to be redone!!!! So be it!!
Thanks for all the comments and moral support!!!
