For starters…the closest I got to my shop today was to put a UPS delivery of sanding disks and screws for my jointer on the work bench. But that happened later in the day.

Up extremely early…...about 0400…...why?.......had to prep some food for a small LJ get together later in the day. So, while drinking my morning cup of java(elixir of life).......chopped onions, red peppers, garlic, trimmed chicken and put on a dry rub amongst other items to prep. Left for my day job around 0600 so I could get back early to start cooking.

Did my eight hours… back and fired up the stove…......making Paella…..a spanish rice dish I learned how to make while on assignment in Spain. While things were simmering….ran in and did the 3 esses and stlll managed to get everything into the paella pan just before the guests started to arrive. Only 2….we’re a small group.

Here are the motley 3….......

left to right LJers: Doug(nmkidd) – David(Patron) – Margy

Food finally ready and the celebration begins… might ask….... what could we be celebrating on a Tuesday evening?

Our Guest of Honor…...Patron…...reached his 65th and now is officially a real senior citizen!!!!

The paella was great…....wish I could do woodwork as well as I cook…....Margy brought a delicious home made chocolate cake and we all serenaded David.

We had a good evening together discussing various things…....even woodworking….....and David headed home with a panza llena, a doggie bag and a year older.

Just wanted to say thanks David for being you!

Vaya con Dios Amigo!

that’s all for now….....hasta luego

-- Doug, New Mexico.......the only stupid question is one that is never asked!........don't fix it, if it ain't broke!

Doug, it sounds like you all had a good time and it is wonderful to see events like this.

And, of course, I would have to wish David a belated Happy Birthday as well.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY David! And may I never catch up to you (I just turned 60 a couple weeks ago).

Great Story and Photo, Doug!! Jeesum Crowe, you guys could’ve cheered up a little for the pic, couldn’t you? :D
Just out of curiosity, do you put Saffron in your Paella? It’s expensive stuff…

Mike: Sure do…....have a friend who owns a restaurant…......gets me a tin at his cost…........I think its a 2oz tin and costs me about $32.00…....normally around $70.00 plus.

Paella isn’t Paella without Saffron.

We were to full to smile much.
