I get excited when I see box trucks come down over the hill at the yard. They’re loaded with crates usualy. This time was a framed crate with decking for a boat that’s being worked on. I saw board feet just waiting to be salvaged. Quite a bit of pine and some spruce. With very few knots. Last time was all rough 1×4 oak. As you can see I try to reuse quite a bit. I finaly invested in some rails and brackets to help organize a little better.

I know what you mean. Last year i got a load of purpleheart for free. A friend of mine works are a metal company. They got a new machine which was brought in a wooden crate. The bottom of the crate was totally purpleheart. It;s nice to salvage wood if you can use it.

Good to hear others enjoy “shopping for wood like I do”, the price of free lumber is right !
Looking forward to seeing your projects. I need to spend time and organize mine, I had a good fall and just dragged it home, next day it started snowing. Everything under tarp ,,,,somewhere. out there.
