« Part 14: Video Tour, about half done... Part 15 of Workshop series no next part

I finally shelled out for some proper sharpening stones. I went with the 8” dmt solid surface stones and purchased a set from sharpeningsupplies.com (https://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/DMT-8-Dia-Sharp-Diamond-Kit-P405C127.aspx). I have to say it killed me to spend more on sharpening stones than on any single handtool, but I know I need them. I also ordered some leather for a strop.

I’m haven’t decided how to set up the sharpening station. I want to get more into carving, so I want my station to be suited to that and to bench work. I think I’ll probably wall mount it near my bench in the end. Maybe make it fold up out of the way and be covered to keep the dust off?

I know I need to order some slip stones also to hone my carving tools. Not sure what to do for this right now.

I swear by the Chris Pye Slip Stones myself. Work excellently. https://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/Chris-Pye-Signature-Series-C66.aspx
