« Part 6: Pics of the bandsaw and shop Part 7 of Workshop series Part 8: just a few do-dads... and maybe a new jointer? »

This whole “I’m building a workshop and I’m building it NOW!” thing came out of starting a project (to build a 4×5 view camera) and getting VERY frustrated at not being able to locate my tools. Nothing has a place where it belongs. Nothing is organized.

Well, that’s about to change!

Today I built two tool boards. One 3’x8’ which is located where the workbench will go once it is built. The second is a smaller 3’x4’ tool board that is located between the tablesaw and the band saw.

Both are made from 1/2” BCX plywood. One edge of each slat has a groove so it works kind of like a french cleat. I modelled it after this from Video here:

I was able to make use of the new dust collector for the first time today. I. Will. Never. Go. Back. EVER!

I still need to build the tool holders. That will come along with building my workbench finally. My plan is every time I need a tool, I will build a holder for it… or something like that…

Anyhow, here’s some pics:

And, of course the pile of sawdust I made!

Slat wall looks good. I’ve been debating slat wall vs just screwing to the wall like Matthias Wandell.
