Hello everyone,

I am building a bar in my basement and need some assistance.

It will be “L” shaped and 42 inches high and 24 wide 8 feet on the long part of the L and 53” on the short part of the L. I will attach the bar to the wall on the short part of the L an the long part is the actual bar top oen to the room.

The questions I have are:
1) do I need to anchor to the floor in the long part of the L ?

2) How far should the overhang of the bar top be for the patrons (freinds drinking for free)(LOL) Does anyone have experience is that type of thing and if possible a photo?

Thaks for your help.

how sturdy do you want it? what will you use to build it? what will you use for the framework? it may be heavy enough that you don’t need to anchor it, and maybe later you won’t want it there or at all.

In bars that I’ve seen, over hang is between 6-12” or more. Depends on how much work and money you want to spend.

Well, my plan is to build birch plywood cabinet boxes that sit on a 2×4 bottom. the closed end of the boxes will have a 2×4 wall that will hold the bar top adn the cabinet top will rest on top of the cabinets.

Have your say...
