Boiled linseed oil - 13 replies

I see a quit of few people use boiled linseed oil. What is the difference between that and polyurithane? Is it better for wood especially for wood that will be outside? Should I just keep using polyurethane or try boiled linseed oil.

I was thinking maybe of putting my signs on eBay. Would it be a good idea or not. Or should I just try it and see how it goes for me.

I am starting to sell my signs and I was curious what the best ways was to do it. I have had one person tell me to mainly sell them online. I’ve had some people tell me shows. And I didn’t know about selling them to stores. So what have you guys tried? And what has work and hasn’t worked for you.

I’ve been looking at router bits for sign making is the v-groove bit the one I want or is there another one I should use. I just don’t want to waste money on a bit that I don’t need at the moment.

For making signs what would be the best kind of wood to use for outdoor signs? I was thinking of using pine for indoor signs but I’m not sure for outdoor. Any information is helpful.

I was at Manards today and was looking at routers and I saw this thing for routers that makes the letters and designs in the wood. I just wondered if any of you guys used one and if you have how did it work. It is called router pantograph. Here is a picture of it. What are your guys opionins on it?

What kind of saw should I use to cut curves with on bigger pieces so I don’t have to use my scroll saw. I’m going to use my scroll saw for smaller projects but I’m not sure what kind to use on bigger ones.

Putting boxes together - 6 replies

When making a box like a jewelry box or another kind of box how do you put it together. In the past I have glued them and I can’t seem to get the corners to line up straight. Then I end up sanding the corners. Then it doesn’t look right because I had to sand to much. Is there a better way to do it or is glueing them the best way.
