At 82, anything I write will be "formerly"as in: Born into lumbering family, with retail lumber yards in northeast Texas, and South Louisiana.
Upon graduating from University, I decided to be a big-time home-builder, in l950. Our tool inventory at the time consisted of hammers, T-squares, 2 ELECTRIIC skill-saws, and that was about it. We sold GradeA#l douglas fir dimensions 2x4, etc. for $680.00 per thousand board feet at the lumberyard! I decided this work was too hard, and traded contracting for Oil Field Service Company activity, headquarted in Houston, then Dallas, followed by Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. By then I was married and my wife longed for warmer climes, so back to Dallas where we stayed for 45 years and I engaged in Real Estate activity, Insurance agency, Trust work with a major Dallas Bank, and after retirement, started a Motor Home Store, selling BueBird Wanderlodge and other high-end motor coaches, in Lewisville, Tx., just north of Dallas. I had a nice little shop for awhile, building book-cases, TV cabinet, and other smaller furniture. I lost the sight of an eye 10 years ago, and with little or no depth preception I no longer attempt anything. My interest remains firm though, and I enjoy the Jocks shops vicariously!

Hello Musician,

I appreciat your kind words! For the time being I’ll be a voyuer mostly. If I can find some pieces I made that are still in presentable condition I’ll post them. Before I lost sight in my right eye, I was left-brain dominant. Trying to switch to right-brain is still a problem,i.e. all straight lines tilt downhill slightly. Guess what that does to precision! Thanks again, and believe me I enjoy following your postings.
