Carve a Hound Dog

this show the main steps to carve a hound dog ,first i cut the dog out with a scrollsaw[ i can do it from a solid block but this saves time] he is 1-1/4 thick by 4-1/2 top of tail.the pattern photo i took croocked some how [3 attemps] i use Catapla but you can use what ever is handy.you want to make sure the grain runs up+down with the tail. i suggest going slow thinning the legs and tail, i always leave the tail for last. All you need for this project is a piece of wood and a knife. To make it a little easier draw a center line fro nose to tail and on the bottom across the feet(dont have to be exact} this makes it easier to see where the nose ,and ears go. I have Shown people how to make these dogs but never tried to write it down BIG DIFFERENCE.The hard part is the legs, they can get confuseing till you do a couple .after you have drawn the center line across the feet,X out the ones you will be removeing, go from one side to the other this will put him in a walking stance. if i can be of astiance please e-mail me
