Part 1: What I found on my new jointer!
Yesterday I started working on two projects: The back piece for my tv mount and an end table. I finally got to use my new jointer. I started with some nice rough walnut. After a couple passes over my jointer I ended up with this. Then I discovered this: Fence Infeed side Fence Outfeed side Fence Outfeed side I sent an email with the pictures to Grizzly and they are sending a new fence to me. Hoping for a nice flat one this time. More to come.
Part 2: New Fence.
I got the new fence and, after what seemed like hours of adjustments and fiddling with it, work recommenced. I worked with my son today and got all the walnut jointed, ripped to width and planed to thickness. That’s where he called it quits. So that is it for today.
Part 3: Some planing and cutting. A sample piece to get the wife's approval.
Some more work over the weekend and a little today. Glued up the back panel for the tv. While cutting pieces for the base of the end table I thought about a technique The Wood Whisperer talked about and my eyes wandered over to a piece of scrap oak I had. I put together a test piece. Some gluing and sanding later, I rubbed some BLO on it and presented it to her. She loved it. So here is one of the pieces for the table glued and clamped. More to come.
Part 4: Put on Hold
I was making some progress and then things were put on hold. I got some of the pieces glued and sanded. I cut the rabbets on the legs and cleaned them up with m y new router plane. Then the wife put her foot down and I am finishing and installing trim in the girls room. Starting with the doos casing. But I have had some time to play with finish for the end table. Oh well, I’ll get back to the end table eventually.
