This is exciting news. Few weeks ago I’ve mentioned the idea of starting our own LumberJocks Podcast that would feature Interview series and hopefully more interesting audio or video formats in the future.
Then I received a personal message from Erik Pearson – our fellow LumberJock – who offered me the helping hand with the interviews. He had no prior experience with creating audio podcasts but he had the right commitment and desire. We contacted our experienced podcasters Matt and Marc to give us some help and guidance. They agreed and provided us with valuable details.
So thanks to Erik, Matt and Marc you can now enjoy our first episode in the LumberJocks Interview series – Interview with Debbie Roswell, better known as our MsDebbieP.
If you enjoy this first episode you may consider subscribing to the dedicated LumberJocks Podcast RSS Feed to get the next episodes delivered right into your RSS Reader or even into your iTunes… or you can at least add LJ Podcast to your buddies to be notified about new episodes.
As you can see on the podcast page the host gets the credit through the short profile and even link to his site. So let me know if you has the idea for another good Podcast series in exchange for little exposure.
Enjoy!

Great ideas Martin and Erik. I have already listened to the first interview and really enjoyed it. Thanks for your continuing innovations and improvements to the site!

Coolness…. but the iTunes link isn’t working for me? A search there comes up blank (well, there is some Monty Python…) I’ll try again in a couple days.
Nice to have a voice to go with the pic (and all the encouragement) Debbie!

Thanks guys..
Scott, I’ve just tested subscribing with iTunes and it works. Podcast’s RSS feed is enhanced with the Feedburner so you just need to click on the feed link (it is always located on the left sidebar of the LJ Podcast blog – ‘Stay up to date’ box).
Once you click on it it brings you to a Feedburner powered page with lots of subscription options listed on the right side. And there you can also find ‘Add to iTinues’ link. Once I clicked it the LJ Podcast was automatically added to my ‘Podcasts’ section in the iTunes. Let me know if this works for you as well. Thanks ;)

Yes, that worked. Sometimes things take a couple days to show up in iTunes. Last night I did a search there but that didn’t work either…. now I’m all set for drive time!

I tried the add to iTunes link and it worked great. Much better than searching for it. Martin, can you add a Podcast links area to the site. One that would capture all of the pod casters that are collaborating with LumberJocks?

Wayne, I’m just going to write about the upgrade of our toolbar that is related to your question. Otherwise we can create one forum topic that can list the podcasters and others can reply with their links and info as well. What do you think?

Well. I’m not a big fan of tool bars and brower add-ins in general. Virus/spyware risks and such. So I avoid them. To be clear, I am not to implying that there is any such issue with the LJ toolbar. It is a general phobia I have.
The problem we have is “losing” content in the forums. You can find links to all of the podcasters in many posts and given that they are not tagged you would have a hard time finding them. Also, the users have to understand how to use tags.
It would be easier for users to have a specfic page for things that you wanted to provide ready access to. Podcasts would be one of many possible topics. The content on this page would be controlled by you.
This is also why I have been asking for a wiki. It would be a way for the community to collect and organize it’s knowledge. We could build our own reference site in additon to blogging, discussing topics in the fourms and showing off our work and workshops.
Also, when we are on the topics of features. It would be cool for you to have an announcement feature that you could use to send emails to all lumberjocks when you have something special to announce. (E.g. a new challenge) I would not see this as something for general site users due to SPAM issues. But it would be a good way to make folks aware of whats going on without them having to come to the site to find out.
What the heck, one more feature request. I would like the ability to add tags to other people’s posts and be able to look at them. A suggest a tag feature such as amazon.com. This would be another good way to improve the findability of the content on the site.

Wayne, I’ve just posted the entry about toolbar upgrade.
Thanks for all the tips.. I’m aware of these problems. Wiki and suggest a tag are definitely “on my radar”. It just takes some time. (and by the way Wiki can become disorganized easily too so it will require lots of time and dedication to keep all things in order ;).
I’m just going to write another little announcement about the new feature I’ve released yesterday plus I’m in the middle of coding the Favorites feature too.
So step-by-step but we will get there. But let me say that I always appreciate your ideas so keep them coming. They are helping to move this site forward.
