Blog entries and forum topics are now taggable too. Tags are becoming more and more important as the content on the LumberJocks is growing exponentially. Essentially they are like descriptive keywords attached to each project, blog entry or forum topic. They help to make it easier for you to find the content you’re interested in.
I’ve also redesigned the Tags page. Now it have three subpages – projects, blogs and forums. On each of them you can see the respective most popular tags displayed in a nice “tag cloud”. It means the tags that are used most are displayed bigger. In addition to this popular tags cloud you can find simple “Jump to tag” textbox. Just type in the keyword you’re looking for and click on “GO”. Only the projects (or blog entries or forum topics) containing that tag will be presented to you on a next page.
And remember that you can find all of the project tags listed on the project page (on the left side) – and they are clickable. Same with blogs and forums.
As you can see proper tagging is essential process to keep our growing directory of content easily browsable by context. So try to devote some time to tags when adding your next project, blog entry or forum topic. I’ve tried to make it even easier for you by providing few questions that you should consider answering when entering tags. This mini-guide is displayed just below the Tags/Keywords textbox on the add/edit pages. This is the sample from the edit project page:
So if you get some free time feel free to go through your past postings and enter some good tags to them.
