Our new guide titled “Embedding Pictures” is finally here:

”This guide covers the process of embedding pictures into your writings using simple – copy-paste of HTML code – method. Most of the popular picture hosting/sharing sites automatically provide this HTML code for each picture. We decided to use Photobucket site for our walk-through but you can easily follow the process with your favorite image hosting site. And if it doesn’t provide ready to use HTML sharing codes, you can follow image insertion process described in our Basic Formatting Guide. ”

Hopefully it will answer most of your questions ;)

I’ve also updated our rich textarea toolbar with “pictures & videos friendly” link that will reveal logos of the LJ compatible sites suitable for hosting your pictures and videos – more logos will be included later:

Pictures & Videos Friendly

P.S. Ethan, thanks for great work!

Thanks for the guide. Just out of curosity, how much direct HTML scripting can one do in the comment/project/blog entry text?

Hi Martin;
I might also mention that ZOOOMR is offering unlimited upload space for even the free accounts....if one loves uploading photos as I do, this is a major reason to use their site!

GODSPEED,
Frank

Wayne,

I’m not completely sure; Martin would have to answer that.

BUT… I do know he said he “opened up” LJ for some HTML coding in posts and comments and whatnot. I say give it a try, use the Preview button, and see if it works!

Or, you could just ask Martin.

Wayne,

I’ve enabled some html tags just to make it easier to embed pictures and videos from other sites by copying the codes. So only the basic tags are allowed like div, span, embed, strong etc. No tables, style attributes, script… Hope this helps.
