I’ve decided to resolve the major annoyance related to posting high quality blog entries on LumberJocks. If you want to add some nice photos to your posts and don’t like spending time with 3rd party photo sharing sites like Photobucket this new feature is just for you.
After taking an estimated storage and bandwidth into account and doing some math, I came to a conclusion that it’s finally the right time to create a new bucket at the Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service) for the LumberJocks images. As a bonus, you can also insert images from your computer when posting comments, forum replies and all other content. Hope it will not be abused ;)
To insert an image from your computer you just have to click on the Insert Image button
and follow the simple process – click on Browse to choose an image from your computer and then click on the Insert this image button:

All images are automatically downsized to 500px (longest edge) and converted to JPG to keep things simple. This is done automatically behind the scenes.
Enjoy!

That’s a great change Martin. Thanks. If I were you, I’d have tried to somehow limit it to blog posts only at first, then forums later if desired, but that is just me.

Way to go Martin.. No being able to easily load photos has kept me from posting a few projects. Great addition to our website.
