I just added the score index to the LJ projects. It’s calculated as the weighted average of the projects’s views, comments and favorites. I will keep fine-tuning this formula down the road. The goal is to uncover the most interesting or hot projects based on how other members respond to it.
You can test it on the projects posted in the last 30 days by clicking on HOT PROJECTS link on the Projects page:

As you can see there is also the SILENT PROJECTS link that will show you all projects posted in the last 30 days with zero comments. you can then go ahead and post a word or two on one of those uncommented projects. It’s sure nice to get some feedback.
Enjoy and keep me posted on how the new Project Score index works for you.

Great idea, especially the silent link. Many without responses could simply be due to time of day posting. Once they fall from the Pulses first page they are missed.

very nice addition!
I actually think that the ‘hot projects’ should be put into direct view on the front page of LJ. at least the top 3 or so.

Good idea. I don’t have time to see every project these days. This will help me to not miss the exceptional ones.

This sounds good Martin. Popular projects do deserve to seen more. With so many member it’s very easy to miss the exceptional ones. I think this will become a very popular feature on the site.
