Better Home for Each LumberJock

Blog entry by Martin Sojka posted 853 days ago 477 reads 1 time favorited 28 comments Add to Favorites Watch

You can finally enjoy the result of my latest work. We got MUCH IMPROVED personal home pages here on the LumberJocks as well as better organization of the profile and account editing.

The former personal homes were not visually appealing and displayed only minimal amount of content. On the other hand, new ones have rich 3-column layout with lots of info about you and your activity on LumberJocks. I believe they represent something you can be proud of and are worth sharing with your friends and even with the customers.

Following items are included on new homes:

  • larger buddy icon
  • latest buddies
  • number of posts, location, website and about text
  • latest blog entries
  • latest projects
  • workshop

With lots of activity on the LumberJocks your home page may even look like Mark's one – take a look to get some inspiration ;)

When you visit your own home page you will be also presented with brown “Welcome toolbar” containing shortcuts to most common actions. It should come in handy quite often. You can go instantly to your own LJ home page by clicking on “My Home” link in the header.

Midnight is coming here and I’m quite exhausted so I’m going to end this announcement now.. go ahead and browse some of the home pages yourself. Any feedback is appreciated as always ;)

Looks great. I really like it. You may want to consider putting a workshop photo rather than a map 0n the page. Also, I was wondering if you could add a workshop photo if available on the home page along with a persons projects.

SWEET !!
Always full of surprises.

I love how the eye wanders around the page, being drawn by the colours and the pictures.
Now I want to re-write my bio and add a blog every day so my family and friends can keep up to date!

My own personal webpage. Bravo Martin; Bravo!!!
Thank you!

LJ’s just keeps on getting better, is it possible for LUMBERjocks to become the Alpha and Omega of woodworking web sites?

Hello Martin;
—-I am amazed at the constant updating and upgrading going on here….

Ha!....so what can we do to get personalized photo headers on our home-pages….?

Now in truth, I am most happy to be a part of the members that so surround us here at LumberJocks. Worker’s of wood we are with many avenues to express ourselves. Lately I’ve been spending more time here and neglecting my other weblogs and sites, hmmm….what is this telling me.

....well back to work while there’s still some sun up….

Thank you.
GODSPEED,
Frank

Very nice layout of information, Martin. Thanks for the upgrades. I kinda like Wanye’s idea of a shop photo too.

re: workshop
I prefer the map – I just like knowing “where in the world is…” everyone.
Then a simple click on their location and I’m zoomed right into their shop area.

I love the new look Martin, I had PC problems for awhile, & then I was working on my summer entry video, so I never took the time to thank you.

I especially like the LJ listings page.

I fit right in there, between a dog, & a baby. LOL
