The International Day of the LumberJock

Blog entry by Martin Sojka posted 895 days ago 962 reads 1 time favorited 48 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Let it be known that today, June 12th, shall now be known as The International Day of the LumberJock.

This day, in 2007, marked the 1,000th woodworker to join the LumberJocks community and is a day for celebration!

I invite you to wear your LJ t-shirt proudly, where ever it is that you are heading today, and take a picture of course (or even a video if you so choose). Let the world know that YOU ARE A… LUMBERJOCK! If you don’t own your LJ shirt you can of course wear your favorite ww shirt as well ;) Post your photos as the comments below…

And one month from now, on Sunday, July 15th, we will be having a LumberJocks picnic! It’s going to be a BIG picnic – with picnic blankets spread out around the world! Simply plan your “where”, invite some friends, and serve up a heap of LumberJock hospitality. Then, we can share our pictures of the big picnic online and remember the good times that we had by all ;)

Thanks all for your support, encouragement and participation in this special community!

Think its time us lumberjocks got our own Budlite commercial.

“Heres to da man who boldly risk personal fortune and body appendages… To take a felled tree from the wilderness and miraculously fashion a napkin holder for the missus….Or a baby crib that finally gets finished when the child starts school…Yes…It is you Mr Lumberjock felled tree magazine rack maker….”

Debbie, they wouldn’t like to see ME dance! That would be a very interesting video! “The World’s Funniest video”!

I could, however get into a good burger! Can’t have a picnic with out some good desserts! With a crowd like we’d have, we wouldn’t want any beans, would we?

Miles, Great idea, I can envision “LumberJocks” T-Shirts in a Bud Light Commercial next Super Bowl! Maybe Frank could write the script(?).

I don’t have a LJ t-shirt yet (I’ll be sure to get one for the picnic) and I’m not going anywhere today so I can’t do any promotions.. But here I am writing my weekly article for the local newspaper—in which I am slipping in a bit about the LJ Day and the Awards event:)

Happy LJ Day

Happy International Day of the LumberJock everyone :D

I don’t have a lumberjocks Shirt either. All my money goes for sticks, or tools or shop improvements. Maybe one day I’ll win one.

Congratulations Martin! A big milestone is reached. Well done.

Bob, that gives me an idea for one of Martin’s next shirts. It is a countdown type, with the milestone crossed off each time a new one is made. The first one could be 500 crossed out, and then show 1000 Lumberjocks and growing. After you advertise a bit, the 1000 would be crossed out and 2000 be the next one. Kind of like the markdown stickers in reverse…

Spooky. I managed to get the day off work to do some work around the house.

After I cleaned up I reached into the closet for a shirt and what did my fingers touch . . . my brand new black DeWalt T-shirt that I have had for months but did not wear it. I am actually wearing it now.

Weird ?!

Dick . . . I love your pic. LOL

We have these pesky little things about twice the size of a flea, we call them mosquitoes, they are more of an annoyance, at lease to me anyway….They bother my wife a lot more than me. But, up in Michigan and Canada you have these “bird sized” mosquitoes. Dive bombers! Guess I’m just not sweet like you are(?).

What about lumberjock suspenders and we market em as “jock straps”? hehe
I asked an old guy i used to work with why he wore suspenders all the time. He said “have you ever tried to put a belt on a funnel?”Lol
