Long time, no post… anyways I’d like to keep you updated about the latest updates on the site. Support and maintenance is taking more and more time because your activity grows leaps and bounds so these upgrades are not huge nor revolutionary. Anyways I’m sure that you’ll find them interesting because most of them were requested multiple times in the past. So here they are:
- New Events Calendar features a monthly view of all important LJ picnics and meetings. These local events are getting so successful and frequent that they deserved a special spot on the site. At the bottom of the page you can find instructions for adding your planned LJ events to this calendar. As you can see there I’m also planning to add sponsored event listings in the future.
- It’s a good habit to wear a classy LJ shirt or cap on the LJ meeting ;) You can find a quick link to our LJ merchandise store at the top of the Events page for easy access. I also updated the selection of LJ products – new shirt styles, buttons, stickers and more.
- Personal Favorites pages are now showing your favorited projects, blogs, reviews, forum topics and workshops in the standard view with titles, thumbnails and descriptions. I’m sure Dan is going to love this new style ;) You can access your personal favorites by clicking on MY LUMBERJOCKS → MY FAVORITES.
- Plain textual subnavigation links have been restyled and look bold and fancy now (same style as the original navigation on the Pulse page).
- Number of the latest projects and blog entries featured on the home page has been increased from 15 to 30.
- Pages with the project thumbnails and member icons should be loading faster due to improved caching logic under the hood.
Enjoy LumberJocks and have a great weekend everybody!

Martin, thanks for all of your hard work. I hope you know how much your dedication has meant and impacted all of the thousands of Lumberjocks on the site. Your work has not gone unnoticed. I now have my son looking at the site. Woodworking has never been one of his favorite things to do, but I hope that a fourth generation of woodworkers has come about because of this site. Thanks again.

Martin: First of all, thanks for all of the work you do to make LumberJocks such a top quality site. I work in the software business and part of my job is creating and maintaining the company’s websites, so I have a sense of the amount of effort you put into it.
I don’t know about anybody else, but one of the things I like best is Workshop tours. I have a shortcut to http://lumberjocks.com/workshops/list, which works for me, but I have often thought it would be nice to have a tab on the top menu similar to Projects, Forums, etc.
Again, thanks … and keep up the good work!
