Her are the Table and Chairs My Daughter and I built for my Grandaughter, it was a one page plan I found 9 years ago and I built 2 for my youngest, She wouldn’t give them up (still uses them) so I said we have to make more + a table for her niece.
Plans called for maple but couldn’t see the little one tearing up good maple, We used cheap furring stips planed and sanded, the tops were made from clear pine.
All joints are mortise & tenion, the tops are doweled, the heart is purpleheart inlayed with a turn lock kit.
the heart is there because of an accident doweling!

Patio Table Santa Ana Wind Proof

Here’s a table we made, had a couple of the glass ones and would wake in the middle of the night to a glass shattering sound, another Santa Ana suprise, so I got the plans from WOOD Mag, I was too cheap to buy redwood so we planed some Douglas fir let it dry for a month and went to work, alot of it warped too badly so we planed some more let it dry and it came out better than I thought.
The plans were great, everthing went together well, the thing we liked was after assembly not a screw or nail to be seen, not even plugs.
We finished it with spar urethane, patted each other on the back because it looked impressive.
The only problem is that that douglas fir (my fault) is starting to seep sap, not much but I think once it’s done it will be time for a quick scuff and recoat.
For those not familiar Santa Ana Winds are hot wind created by cold air decending from the mountains and being heated by compression.
