Welcome to my LumberJocks' webpage.

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS MSDEBBIEP?
Thanks to Douglas Bordner, our resident digitizer, I have been touring the world and visiting LumberJock shops and woodworking companies.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
It al began with a little humour about being a "real Canadian LumberJock" and a silly picture of me in a beaver hat and red plaid jacket. A little razzing later by my fellow jocks and an idea was born for our resident digitizer, Douglas Bordner, and I began my travels around the world. I first visited the Himalayas
followed by several stops worldwide. http://lumberjocks.com/topics/572. Then the journey took on a new look as I started my tours of LumberJock shops along with a personal "inspection".
http://lumberjocks.com/topics/578
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A BIT ABOUT ME
I am relatively new to woodworking (becoming a Jock(ette) in January 2007 and gradually trying my hand at different woodworking techniques). I am enjoying the journey, especially with the support and expertise I get here at the LJ community.

My journey thus far can be explored through my projects and blogs that I have posted. My pride and joy is the Table Challenge Entry. http://lumberjocks.com/projects/958 Why is it so special? 1) I did it... 2) it is made from beautiful willow, 3) I was able to do it, 4) it is so cute, and 5) I took up the challenge, tried a whole bunch of new skills and was able to produce a "table that was stable".

In the summer of 2008, inspired by projects posted by my fellow LumberJocks, I started building "Fairy Doors" and oh, what fun I'm having!!! A little bit of technical and a whole lot of creativity go into these little projects. Who knows what will be next!

That's it for now. Be sure to check my blog and my projects to see what I am up to in the shop!

Oh.. and I'm also a member of GardenTenders (http://gardentenders.com/members/MsDebbieP) and HomeRefurbers (http://homerefurbers.com/members/MsDebbieP)

Your woodworking may be the best outlet for your creative talents. As your experience unfolds, your inner direction may fall towards special areas of the craft. You may also find that the work may be an indicator of your stresses and anxiety, and conversely, your happiness and serenity.

Debbie, as you know, I’m in Vancouver with my grandchildren. My oldest grandchild and only granddaughter, Maddie, (I tell her that she’s my favorite granddaughter. LOL) was sitting looking at my laptop which I left on to the home page of this site.

Your name appears at the top the the Jocks list, so she asked me, “Who’s Debbie?”

Now it was important to answer this as unambiguously as one can for a nine year old. (I won’t go into the details of this, suffice it to say Debbie is the reason Maddie’s mother is no longer married to Maddie’s father.)

So I showed her your projects and described you as a Artist with Wood. Her eyes lit up and she asked to see more of your work. This I gladly did, because Maddie has exhibited real artistic appreciation herself and enrolls every summer in a Summer Art Class.

“Are they for sale, Grandpa?” Can we buy her stuff? She loved you first box and said that she could put all kinds of treasures in it.

I thought that you’d appreciate hearing about an admirer. I told her that I would let you know that she likes your work.

Don, tell Maddie that I am honoured that an artist such as herself likes my work! She sounds like she is a very artistic and passionate young lady.

Thanks Os re: the podcast. Spring is getting in the way of woodworking. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I’ll be able to build something else.

Hello Debbie

I am overwelmed with all the comments I am getting. I am not really a joiner of club or website but this one seems to good to pass up. I will now try to answer your question about the bottom of the ottoman. I pulled the material under the bottom and stapled it. next I warped a piece of material around a piece of rope and stapled it on the bottom so the wrapped cord slight stuck out from the edge. finally I cut strips of black matt board the width of the bottom edge. I stapled the matt board on the bottom pushed close up to the edge of the cord which covred the bottom edge and gave it a finished look.

Goodmorning Debbie,
I do love photography, I’m not a photographer be any stretch, but we are surrounded by an incredible world. There are days when I feel like I am walking around in a post card, does that make any sense? anyhow the sun is comin, we live on solar so when the sun hits the panels I try to get all my power tool work done before the clouds.
take care,
harold
