Has anyone had any experience using dyes (not stain) on quarter-sawn sycamore? I have some beautiful stock that I want to use in table tops. But with the wild grain and softness of the wood, I thought I’d ask before taking dye to wood. There’s been a bit of tearout which I guess I’m just going to have to accept. I typically like to use brightly-colored Transtints on my figured woods. I’ve had great results on curly maple, but was wondering if dyes would muck this up. Thanks!
