Married to a wonderful woman, Christmas tree farmer by trade and woodworker on the side for about 15 years.
Spent that time outfitting a fairly well equipped shop and teaching myself power tool techniques, all the while missing an important part of woodworking. Learning to properly use hand tools.
In the last couple years I have become almost addicted to learning and using the tools of past generations. There is something to be said for making shavings with a tool that is 100 years old and still works as good as the day it was bought new. Imagine what that tool has seen over the years. Imagine what the craftsman of old did with that same tool that I hold in my hand today. Not to mention the fact that it is sometimes just as fast as power tools but quiet with significantly less dust and a good way to unwind after the stressful workday.

Hey Mranum: It’s always a pleasure to welcome another Wisconsinite to Lumber Jocks. I really enjoy the site and have learned a lot here. Every once in a while I’m able to offer advice as well. I like getting new ideas from the projects that other jocks post here. I you you enjoy the site as much as I do.
Forward!

Hello and welcome to lumberjocks;
You’ll soon see this place can take more time than woodworking itself.
But there are lots of really fine people here, and some great talent too!

Its kinda funny to me when you look at where everyone is from, virtually all over the world and then someone pops up who is almost right around the corner. ;)
