« Part 2: Headstock roughed out Part 3 of Cigar Box Guitar series no next part

I finished up my CBG today and it is already going out as a gift to my father in law. I finished the wood in oil/varnish followed by handrubbing and wax. I don’t have much of an ear for tuning it but I think it is close to G B G’. I didn’t amplfy it becasue he doesn’t own an amp but if he gets one I will add a pezo (sp?) to it. I have a very similar cigar box that I will use to build myself a guitar with soon and because the machine heads came in a set of six I have some of those left over for my guitar too! I also but a little note to him on the inside; I wonder if he will ever find it…

Great work, will be starting my own very soon (have the box, neck, tuners, and strings) – should look similar to yours in the end.

The frets are just marks right? In other words it is predominately a slide guitar.

Yes, on mine it is a slide with just some saw kerfs sanded smooth and darkened with a sharpie for frets.
