    Hi Moshel
I am from down under (NZ) as well, just getting started in this woodwork thing.
getting a few tools together and like you surched the net for wooden holdfasts.
Very elusive and hard to find, however I did find this, a Barilette, basicly it is a forked tree branch.Like a shanghi upside down, with one leg shorter than the other. They are used the same as a metal holdfast, and supposidly just as good.
Found in a 1930 Popular Mechanics

James Krenov called himself an amature. Originally meaning is to love something! In the JK tradition welcome to us amatures! You have a great eye and creative mind! Really enjoyed your stuff on dust collection. Although he was pomous, and arrogant, FLW is an inspiration.

Looked through your projects, great beginnings! lol

Hi Moshel - can't remember if I replied to you yet or not - so much going on with this site I lose track… I'm doing my course in Palmy North, it's a 2 year full-time diploma course with plenty of adult (mature?) students. Check out Andyboy's profile (I think you've commented on one of his pieces), he's one of my tutors here and good value.
I have family in and around CHCH and make the trip quite often - might take you up on the offer to drop in sometime. Same goes if you find yourself in Palmy.
    Cheers, Sharyn

    Hi Moshel,

Another kiwi woodworker here, up the other end from you I think (I'm in Auckland). I noticed you were in NZ after of the mention of Rimu in this project. Looks like a great little project, I'll be sure to make one in a couple of years why my wife's belly bump becomes a duck pushing toddler.

    cheers,

    Craig

    Hi Moshe,

Welcome to Lumberjocks - finally, someone else from Christchurch! We can finally have a Lumberjocks picnic over here in NZ now - at least you and me on the S.Island…well not until it warms up again, anyway. I'll have to get in touch with you offlist. Enjoy the list. Excellent people here and even better woodworkers all willing to share and learn.
