Got this Toshiba laptop from a best buy deal of the dayfor 299 usd. My Dell had some serious issues .
It started to take a long time for it to boot up. It sounded like a piper cub taxiing down the runway . loud
A couple of weeks ago I was in the middle of ending a program and for some impatient reason just clicked
the power button to ‘off’ . The next log=on , I find that the Dell has crashed . I had to manually photograph
the trouble screen because it just flashed on the screen for about a second .That took a few tries . Then googled the error code ,
which was something I had never heard of before and sounded really weird . With April 8th approaching as the mark of Microsoft not supporting Windows XP , upgrading to
Windows 8.1 seemed like a timely solution . I had heard a lot of off hand comments by people who stated
that it was too different from what they were used to , and many did not care for the changes . Even some thirty-year-olds professionals, who do almost all things on their iPhone , didn’t care for it …my daughter included .
That was surprising to me . The night before it arrived , I spent about ….um…an hour and twenty minutes combined watching
tutorials on 8.1 . This actually took about 3 hours interspersed with snacks and trips to the patio to smoke
and general zoning out then back to tutorials . The Toshiba is lightning fast and so so quiet . 8.1 is truly different than XP .
The search function across all the apps is cool , the swipe function is kind of sensitive on the left and
will display the charms easily . having multiple tabs open and being able to drag and drop them or line them up
and scroll between them is really novel for me . You can change some settings and run it off your desktop like windows 7 if you want ( ? ), but 8.1 is a big improvement over the piper cub , but I have a few more flight
lessons to go . On the second day the curser froze , touchpad would not work . LMGTFY . I manually fixed that
problem , seems that you can freeze the curser function by double tapping in the upper left hand corner twice , which
I inadvertently did somehow …maybe ? . I still couldn’t tell you how I fixed that , because I don’t remember , I have retention
problems when it comes to some things . Maybe it unfroze itself after an update..? who knows….not me .
.....funny machines…..I like this one though .

........................................................................................................................................................................now a short film about Duct tape , a shop favorite .
!

I think this film shows that you should never use Duct tape on electrical outlets , switches , plugs , wire . etc.
One should use electrical tape if needed . Also , any sort of tape is a poor choice when trying to thwart
the Supernatural .

I’ll say one thing, moment, you sure do make people think. Thanks for the post. It’s certainly a nice conversation piece.

i am cry laughing because i just spent 4 days working on my i mac and after about 20000 tries with my scratched start up disc i got it to a flashing screen and because i must have thrown out the manual. so what i learned all by myself was read the fine little print on the first disc, it say’s hold down letter c on startup. and it worked oh and save that owners manual.

@ AnthonyReed, I agree with you Anthony . I read recently that a poll was taken in my country , and that four out of five
people did not know that the Earth revolves around the Sun. I blame the education system for not teaching
more about Nihilism . When one is trapped inside an anarchist’s toolbox romantic fantasy , there is nothing like
reading a good German philosopher to snap you back into a different and more enjoyable state of depression . : )
Have a great weekend Anthony .

@ VonHagen , That made me laugh Blaine . The Devil is in the details . You got a manual ? I didn’t get a manual !
It’s on my computer somewhere , haven’t found it yet ….more tutorials lol . I ran into something similar to your ‘hold button C ’ problem . I was trying to embed videos onto LJs and the embed code would load .but the video would not .After about 30 mins of trying it over and over , I had the brilliant idea of looking up what the format was supposed to look like . It showed that the embed code would always begin with < . I noticed that
mine began with !< . I back spaced over the ! , which is not supposed to be there , and ,viola…the video appeared . Hope things are going smoothly with your new i mac , have a great weekend !

I all started with windows 8 then 8.1 then 8.1 update 1. I still hate it. Yes I say hate. I usually don’t use that word.

It’s funny, today I got rid of one w8 and installed w7. much better.

Manual is sometimes on the CD, they don’t give the CD anymore. That’s OK, you can read it online. OOPS you are trying to figure out how to connect to the internet.

Enough ranting.

what new ww site are you talking about?

great video, my heart was pumping a little faster :)
