« Part 4: Halfway point Part 5 of Sturgis Motorcycle Rally series Part 6: Wrap up »

So far the rally has not been particularly good for me. It’s still possible to be good, but today and tomorrow would have to be pretty darn good. The other thing is “possible” sales. Anyone who has sold retail has heard the lines of “We’ll be back” or “We will call you in the next couple weeks”. After some time, you know which ones you will never hear from (vast majority). But there’s always a couple true “possible” call backs. I have 2 in particular that I believe will contact me after the show. If they do, then it will be a very good show. Also, since I will probably have much left over from the rally, my next big show starts 5 days later for the Central States Fair. It’s another 10 day show that is usually pretty good for me.

With all of that being said, here’s more pictures from this year’s event

Look very closely at the front wheel – bullet proof glass

This is a 3 wheeler

Then the Geico display

Probably will give the final report on Saturday. Thanks for reading

Sorry to hear that the show is not living up to your expectations so far Monte. Your work is so good and I hope the show finishes with a big $uccessful weekend. A lot of awesome looking bikes up there and you are doing a great job of taking some photos to share with those of us who aren’t there…. Good fortunes with the rest of the show…hop it ends with a big sales finale for ya’.

Hang in there Monte, there is always the thought that you are getting the “Brand” out there as you are becoming a well known artist … Just think, one day I will be able to say, “Monte? Oh sure, I knew him back when…

Every kind of food imaginable. Lots of turkey leg sales and at least 2 vendors selling alligator. Haven’t tried the alligator.

Well Monte, sorry for the disappointing sales. At least you have some inventory for the next outing. I would think that the fair would have customers more suited for buying. Can’t really see a motorcycle driving down the road with one of those beautiful chests strapped to the back!

I asked a motorcyclist if he had a trailer for his bike. Said no. Hey you have product for the next show. That’s thinking ahead. Like Huff said in his marketing woodworking blog “everyone is a potential sale.” Best of luck.

You should try the alligator…it is really good if cooked right. I just had some alligator sausage a few weeks back and it was scrumptioulicious…!

Some cool bikes there (and some really “Way out in left field” ones too! )

Hey Monte, maybe you can build some biker trailers. That way they can haul stuff home they bought from you. That 3 wheeler truck is a beaut.
