On an earlier blog I wanted an I’d on some wood the ranchers here referred to as “Ironwood”. A very plain wood that appears to be invasive and extremely hard.
We have a positive I’d now as Eastern Hophornbeam. Commonly called Ironwood. Slightly less hard than mesquite. Commonly used for tool handles & wooden mallet heads. Now I have to find something I can use it for.
Once dried it does take stain very well.
