Box bodies were cleaned and sanded. One note sanding, if you damage your sandpaper on ROS sander like this, I recommend to change it.

I have had it leave gouges in the wood. (IMHO).

Profiles were cut on top and bottom plates.

But remember that every surface needs to be properly cleaned. So for the round cuts, you can use a dowel of matching radius or get a set of these rubber profiles.

Wrap sandpaper over it to clean the profile. Do not roll it over the square cut edge.

For the square cut edge, take a block of wood with a square edge and a piece of sandpaper to clean them.

Every surface needs to be treated individually.

Now to mount hinges. Mark where they will go.

Since I use a router to remove the material for the hinge, use a dovetail saw to cut each side of the hinge. This dramatically reduces the amount of tearout from the router.

Remember that everything I put in here is simply my opinion of what Charles shows me. Any individual questions, you’re welcome to contact Charles directly for clarification, or to point out that I did something stupid.

Next up is finishing.

Yeah, I gotta say, I’m liking the new Monte as well! The time With Charles is definitely working out nicely!

Next time I’m in Virginia, I’m stopping by and soaking up as much of that as I can.
