I have a basement shop in my home. I’m lucky in that I have a dedicated space, and a reasonable amount of space, ~500 sf. I have several power tools that I’m mostly happy with:
– Jet contractor table saw with Rockler attached router table, with a shop-made cabinet under it to collect router sawdust and add some storage. I have a PC 4732 permanently mounted with a Router Raizer.
– Jet 6” jointer
– Ridgid 4133 planer (just bought it reconditioned and it’s awesome!)
– Jet 14” bandsaw
– Penn State 1 hp DC and JDS air cleaner
I have gotten a lot of things off Craigslist, including an older HVLP system with great capabilities that I got for a great price.
I’ve been mostly building the shop and then building cabinets. I break sheet goods down in the garage with the circular saw and do the final machining and assembly in the basement shop. I’m just finishing our kitchen cabinet install, and I’m hoping to start some furniture in 2009.

Your shop sounds interesting. How about posting some pictures when you get the chance?
