I’m never going to buy a new tool again. Yeah right, but I can try not too. They are so expensive. If you have been following my recent posts I’m getting back into the craft after a long layoff. This series is devoted to the fine are of picking up used tools on the cheap.
Recently I discovered ( or re-discovered ) the pawn shop. OMG !!!!!!! the selection of tools is incredible.
I recently picked up a Porter Cable 1 3/4 Hp router kit with plunge and standard base. Great condition – 100 bucks. 3 collets, wrenches, 2 bases and the case. I was going to buy the same one on Amazon for about 230 bucks.
I also found a nice Dewalt variable speed jigsaw for 65 bucks too. I actually went in there to look at a Rigid 10” band saw but it was not if very good condition. I was walking out when I saw the piles of electric drills, sawzawls, and hundreds of other tools. SoI just had to get the router and jigsaw. I can’t tell you how many cheap jigsaws I have burned up and destroyed in my career.
More to come on my cheap tool tips. If you have your own way of getting used tools please let me know. I’m never going to buy new again.
(Except for my new Air Cleaner, after market miter guage, router table inset, and the list goes on…..)
